Line-up – Vladimir Lumi (vocal), Emil Pohjalainen (guitar), Jani Vesanen (guitar), Emmi Taipale (kayboards), Joonas Pykälä-aho (drums), Pasi Tanskanen (bass)
We'll begin a little unusually with booklet - with regard to the fact that this is “only” promo version with three songs, the band surprised me with stylish picture on the front side of the album - hall with several pillars, darkness in background where some cloudlet of white smoke lurks, however on the ground there is some shadow of some god (or death, I've got no idea). And in front of the pillars on the right there is a pedestal, at which lies an open book, at one page is written the name of the promo, in the other is sticked sword (I don't know why, but it reminds me of the legendary Excalibur). So much for the booklet, which I'd rate 10.
In the beginning of spring 2002 the trio Pasi, Joonas and Emil joined together and started to play cover versions of Iron Maiden. They played live for the first time in summer 2002 at festival Lampirock in Jokela. A few years later and after some personal changes in 2005 came new guitarist Jani, keyboardist Emmi and of course singer Vladimir. And instead of cover versions they began to compose and play their own songs, from which three are on this promo - let's have a look.
The songs are well recorded, the band members understand to their instruments. All three songs are more like mighty hymns, very often switching to relatively fast (and sympathetic) thrashing. The vocal seems to me like something between speed metal and thrash with color, fast and hard, comes well in this album. All instruments are well audible, there are very nice musical motives (but repeating). The keyboards create the symphonic impression - it is in the beginning of the second and third song, it is played very good.
Already the first song Tormented No More is very pleasing and catchy at the first listening. At the second not so much already, because of the fact, that listener will get very soon tired of it, same as the other songs. The beginnings are slow, played by keyboards, few measures later the music gets faster a runs like blazes. The music goes really nicely, swiftly and charmingly in all three songs. There are also sympathetic fluent changes of tempo, from slow to very fast.
Thaurorod has also very well made website, if you want, take a look at www.thaurorod.com.
In the conclusion - it's a very nice promo with excellent themes, clean sound, well recorded. Let's hope that after releasing this promo the band won't split, but will go on in this line-up. They've got ideas more than enough and musically they can also ripen in a few years.
