Line-up: Vladimir Cochet – all instruments and programing
Are you bored? Buy a raccoon or (even better) a new CD “Agnostic Industry of the I”, recorded by Vladimír Cochet, the only member of the project Weeping Birth. I can assure you that you won’t be bored. First, I was quite taken aback by the “total time” (01:13:29); but then, after listening to the whole CD, I had to admit that the time was adequate; maybe it could be even longer. There’re so much excellent music ideas that they could be used by same bands for three or four albums.
For example, the nine-minute-long song “Der Tanz der Toten” could be issued as a separate EP. Opening passages of the song race against time – although there’s enough time – are as speed as a racer accidentally entered for a race. In the middle of the song there’s a calm passage filled with “funeral psychedelic meditation” which is replaced with surprisingly melodic doom metal part. However, the end of the song will drain the rest of your energy. “Der Tanz der Toten” is definitely the Mont Everest of the CD.
However, the other songs are good, too. For a change, the song “Detestable Birth Tapestries with Snakes Emboidered" is full of catchy “death” riffs and licks, which will please guitar fans. Vladimir Cochet dedicates himself to programming, that’s why we can hear there sample keyboards, bowed instruments and some other electronic tricks, that sometimes evokes the feeling of monumentality – e.g. in the song “Orgasmic Fetid Breath”. The samples in “Mutisme” create an instrumentally mixed cocktail. In a word, despite the songs being well linked together, each of them has its original atmosphere and charm.
As you can hear on the CD, Vladimir Cochet is not only a great guitar player, but (above all) a great composer. He’s also good at programming, but there are some problems with drums – although the electronic (sampled) drums are flawless, they sound a bit “flat” and lack spontaneity. Nevertheless, I must say that they are the best electronic (sampled) drums I’ve heard recently. So, if you are willing to accept this problem, you can plunge into the listening of the song "Anosognosic Industry of the I" and you will find out, that it’s better than buying an above mentioned raccoon.
