When something goes wrong, it usually gets completely fucked up, and exactly the case of Sound Storm VI. From the originally announced bands only Warchild remained, but they were unable to perform as a mighty virus devoured the keyboardist (entirely) and the singer (partially).
So, the festival reduced the price and only three bands performed actually.
The first band that appeared on the stage were Gralloch. This band surprised me a lot, since a duo of Singer and guitarist isn’t exactly frequent. The drums were reproduced from CD. The duo played their black metal that some guy standing next to me labeled as „Pure like hell“. Personally, this band reminded me of Burzum – a real pure black metal.
The second band were Morgus Down. I admit that their black-pagan-doom metal is really unusual and of high quality. The second half of their set got me down to my knees, although this was the first time I have ever heard this band. – I was really impressed! The female vocalist was replaced by the bass guitarist and the music became more aggressive.
The last act of the night was Panychida, and they really became stars of the show. Their pagan-black metal was destructive and uncompromising. I haven’t heard the band before as well, and for the first listening I liked it very much.
This time there were about 80 paying visitors, which is an average number for Sound Storm. I hope that will get better next time.
Warchild will no more participate in playing at this festival; their next show will take place after their new CD is released.
Anyway, don’t worry to come to the next Sound Storm, as the bands will surely be interesting and the choice will be wide enough for all the people…
