Liberec thrash metal veterans V.A.R. celebrate their 20th anniversary this year and that’s why they’ve planned a rich concert program.  They gave me an interview during one of their concerts (Immortal Shadows Fest in Kozlovice) and you can read it on Metalzone web pages.  On behalf of V.A.R. answered my questions their drummer and the founder of the band – Jan “Jeny” Janota.

Unborn are a trash-metal band from Prague, which is already many years old. They have done plenty of concerts and four albums. In case you haven’t heart about them yet, it is highest time to put this right – you can now read an interview with them, which is connected with a review of their new CD „Six Ways of Suffering”.

Progressive/art/rock metal band Tanker from Frýdek – Místek has been playing on metal’s tilt for 12 years and this “hobby band” in the beginning, grew into a quite interesting band. This year the band released new CD with name „Sins“ and this is why I made interview with composer, lyrics writer, vocalist and quitarist in one person: Petr Šodek and I got interesting news about the band.

Power-speed metal band Rimortis released a DVD entitled „…už bijí zvony“. Using the cyberspace I asked the bassist and the sole composer and lyricist of the band Václav Mrzena for an interview and asked him few questions mainly concerning this DVD.

It is not necessary to introduce the west-bohemian formation Neurotic Machinery at length to metal fans, by the way you were able to read a little about them in review of their actual EP record „Exi(s)t“. And it is this act, which became the main topic of the following interview, where the guitarist and composer Michal Šedivý revealed a little about the future of the band.

Godless brutal death grind… This is the full-length musical description of music Martyrium Christi plays, and the list of roles that Karel „Tomajda“ Tomášek plays in the band is just as long - band leader, vocalist, guitarist, composer… The other members in the band are: Pert Kalčík (guitars), Pavel Jurek „Jozé“ (bass, vocals), Martin Krč „Láca“ (drums), and the last but not least, Dan „Beherit“ Bílý, manager.

Martyrium Christi belongs among the few bands that have played in the same line-up for a long time. The release of their new „We Will Kill… For You" CD took rather a long time, but the Langer the waiting was, the better the result is. Their fresh release is great and the reviews are positive, however, if you are not familiar with this band, this CD will certainly make you list them as your favourite.

Tomajda replied all my questions (except for one).

Thrash metal band Maelstrom (US), which was founded in 1988, woke up last
year after many years long hiatus and released EP called "It Was
Predestined". About the fact that this is not only kind of remembrance and
that the band is serious about reunion I talked through internet with the
most liable man - founding member, singer and lyrics writer Gary Vosganian.

Prague band Latitude 77, who join elements of nu-metal, hardcore and electronic music, is as if resurrected after certain line-up changes. The coming of a new guitarist and - in particular - a new singer Agnes put Latitude 77 into new, more interesting clothing. To learn more about all the recent goings on, I interviewed Agnes and one of the founding members, guitarist Daniel Kroft.

A new generation of fans has grown, fans of music harder and more energetic than we, a bit older, listened to. Rock music is just a small step to metal music, it’s the closest of all other music genres, and so I got an idea to remind us all that Kern, hard rock band from Brno, is still active. The legendary kern line-up is setting out for an autumn tour: Jaroslav Albert Kronek (vocals), Slávek Karásek, Tony Vodička (guitars), Libor Machata (bass), Karel Vodička (drums). Tour is supported by several metal bands (VIDOCK, Eagleheart etc…), so even a metal music fan will enjoy. We asked Tony Vodička for an interview.

I asked Miguel to introduce Jeruzalem for us and I found out, that I couldn't write better introduction than Miguel did: "Jeruzalem is a band, which was founded because we like the phenomena of underground. Our only point is to entertain ourselves and the people who want that too. We are glad for every fan, who contacts us and even for someone, who writes critics. As a musicians, we are total amateurs. Except Anče, we all learn and practice on our own. But we try to make our music the best we can. Everyone gives a lot of time, energy and liver cells to the band."

Electro metal band Galactic Industry from Karviná are going to enter third time to the studio to their newest baby in form of silver disc could see the light of the world. But not only about news I confessed the leader of the band, vocalist, guitarist and composer George 13. He is also the co-organizer of Karviná`s festival HEY!ANIMALfest, of course I didn`t forget to aim a few questions to this way.

This band of 4 masters - current line-up: Zig-vox (black-haired), Wena-dr (blond), Jaromír-bass (Dreadlocks), Satris-gui (grey-haired) - is fully stretched and is among the most known bands on the Czech metal scene. To be exact, I'll describe the style of FM using Satrise’s words: Their music is a compromise between brutal death and melodic death, let's say related to it's old-school kind. Band is active since it's foundation in r.1998 - as on many gigs they played, so in recording their CD. Their last album, recorded in Autumn 2006, is DVD "Nothing But Death", which consists of two videoclips - Nothing But Blood, Screaming Plastic Pets and three audio tracks - Blood Eye Barrier, Grimace Of Hatred, Entrails On The Wall + band's photos. I asked for interview 2 members - Satris and Zigih.

Fans of melancholic/doom metal band Euthanasia from Havirov can't wait for the new CD, so that's why I asked the composer, bass guitarist and vocalist Robert "Siki" Kyselica few questions about the new album and also about the band itself.

Elementary je skupina fungující od roku 2007, stali se také finalisty České rockové ligy, koncem roku 2010 vydali své druhé studiové CD s názvem "Horizont lidskosti". Po poslechu tohoto CD jsem neodolala a využila ochoty, nechat se vyzpovídat, vůdce této Domažlické smečky Petra Hyldebranta. Petr je bohém, hudebník, grafik, textař, zpěvák a jak sám o sobě napsal misantrop (což asi i vysvětluje některé názvy skladeb a texty). Tato kapela si jistě zaslouží kousek Vaší pozornosti, obohacuje českou metalovou scénu velmi kvalitní a originální tvorbou.

Because the Slovakian progressive/death band recorded new album, Downfall, I used the  willingness of their guitarist, singer and composer in one person, Paul King, to chat with him not only about this CD, but about everything around his band.

The band DOGMA.INC isn't well known in Czech, it is Slovakian, it has four members and they play just metal. They don't like typecasting, so everyone can assess their style on their new album "Before And After" himself. During the reading, you can listen to a sample track at www.myspace.com/dogmainc. Where do you place these Slovakian guys and if you like their music is just up to you. Interview is provided by Kuna -  bass player and singer.

Death metal band DMC lives their “mortal” life for some 17 years. They’ve become a stable band after several complications concerning most of all line-up. They’ve focused all their powers on composing quality music. I’ve interviewed singer Quatchudem, who is actually the only DMC’s original member. We were talking about past and presence.

Progressive death metal band Demiurg from Karviná is celebrating their 10th year of existence. Over the years they have only released two promo CDs and a full-length album “Attack From The Other Side” (2007), however, they got well-known among metal fans, particularly in the north of Moravia. I hope they will be able to find a label that would release their new CD, which has almost been finished. The bass-guitarist martin “Megoš” Vaněk happens to live in Havířov like me, so I used (or maybe abused) his free time and had a chat with him.

This is the welcome message at Demencia Mortalis’ web page. The band is formed by Headbanger, Zelior, Monča, Kuba Nosek, Jatic, Pája, Comatt and Charon, so they’re like a small class with a teacher. They recorded their first demo (you can find a review within this site) and another CD is planned for autumn, and they have played a number of concerts in their hometown Roudnice n.L. and in central and northern Bohemia.  And because Headbanger is also a reporter for this web-zine, I interviewed him and Charon.

Thrash metal band Debustrol from Mladá Boleslav has released their 11th album so far, called „Rwanda“. Once again it’s a rough album with no compromises. The band will be performing several gigs, about which (and not only them) I asked Debustrol’s guitarist and singer Kolinss.

Even though that Cruadalach exist for approx. 2 years, they are one of the jewels on Czech metal scene. This band has some serious wild potential, excellent organization and propagation as well as the outcomes. They’ve already traveled to places where a lot of even longer playing bands have never been. All the answers here have been answered by all the members of Cruadalach clan.

I’d like to introduce an ultra-metal band from Uherský Brod, whose members are no newbies to our metal scene. Our interview went in the way of general introduction of the band and my questions were willingly answered by band’s guitarist.

Young band Asacorr from Bratislava, SK, reached, in spite of its not very long history, interesting musical successes, for example, supporting legendary Arakain, or co-operation with Miloš Dodo Doležal during the recording of last year’s demo. I talked about events expected for this year with drummer Chef and guitarist Minča.

Hail to you, fans of death metal! Long-awaited CD „Negative World“ of the group Amok has finally seen the light of our negative world. New CD indicates that groups don’t have to spit many low-class albums to achieve quality at last. I interviewed Erik Arnost, guitarist and chief of this band that is connected with several more groups. As he said, he was drinking Staropramen during our dialogue while I was sitting with absolutely nothing to drink. The result of our several-hours long session can be found right below.

Metal band Abax from Prague have recently decided to make a reunion. Two matadors David “Dave” Votruba – guitar and Martin Linhart – drums, accepted bass guitarist Marek Malášek and singer David Roubal to their “family”. Together with them, they not only began to practise some old material, but also began to write new songs, some of which were released this year on an EP called „Zlatej ráj“ [Golden paradise]. I interviewed drummer Martin and singer David via the “highway of the internet” and I asked them several inquisitive questions about the past and the presence.
